Postdoc Supervisors

Diana Damer, Ph.D. - Dr. Damer has nearly 30 years of experience providing clinical supervision in a variety of settings, including community mental health, university counseling, and private practice. She co-founded and directed an APPIC-member predoctoral internship program at Smoky Mountain Center in western North Carolina. She served on the faculty of the APA-accredited Internship Program at the Counseling and Mental Health Center at UT Austin, supervising interns for individual and group therapy and leading the group therapy training program. Since founding Anxiety Treatment Center of Austin she has supervised several postdoctoral fellows who have become long-term members of the group practice. She specializes in treating the full range of anxiety disorders, utilizing a flexible cognitive-behavioral approach which incorporates mindfulness, cognitive techniques, and exposure-based interventions. She often uses perfectionism as a conceptual model for treating anxiety, OCD, and related issues such as depression, and body image issues. In supervision, Dr. Damer brings her extensive knowledge about treating OCD and anxiety disorders along with a collaborative and interpersonal approach.

Emily Kindschi, Psy.D. - Dr. Kindschi has over 5 years of experience supervising psychology trainees as well as co-facilitating consultation groups with colleagues and previously serving as the student training director for her graduate school clinic. Her training and clinical focus includes treating mood disorders, anxiety, and OCD as well as providing couples therapy. Dr. Kindschi completed her APA-accredited internship in clinical health psychology with a culturally diverse population of adults with serious mental illness and general mental health designations in an integrated community mental health and primary care setting. Following internship, she then completed a 1.5-year APPIC-member specialized postdoc at the Center of OCD and Anxiety-Related Disorders (COARD) in St. Louis, MO, offering evidenced-based treatment in PHP, IOP, and outpatient settings. Dr. Kindschi emphasizes a collaborative and interpersonal approach within supervision, helping trainees to develop their therapeutic skills, ethical decision-making, and professional identity. She provides a safe and constructive environment for trainees to discuss and reflect on their clinical cases, offering insights, examining assumptions, and encouraging critical thinking. Overall, Dr. Kindschi views supervision as fostering a supportive and growth-oriented relationship with trainees, nurturing their professional competence and confidence as they prepare to become independent practitioners.

Jack Tsan, Ph.D. - Dr. Tsan has over 10 years of experience supervising psychology trainees at various stages of their career development and was the Psychology Co-Training Director for the APA-accredited internship site at VA Texas Valley Health Care System in 2012-2013. Dr. Tsan’s training and focus area include health psychology, integrated care, and cultural awareness in treating anxiety, social anxiety, PTSD, and OCD. While Dr. Tsan was trained from a psychodynamic framework at an APA-accredited internship site, most of his work in practice throughout the years has been culturally-informed evidence-based psychotherapies. Dr. Tsan was the Integrated Care Facility trainer and Evidence-Based Psychotherapy Coordinator for the Central TX Veterans Healthcare System (CTVHCS) in which he trained and led consultation groups for licensed clinical staff across the healthcare system. Additionally, Dr. Tsan was an internship supervisor for the APA-accredited program at the CTVHCS. In other professional areas, Dr. Tsan has published in the field of men and masculinity and is active in advancing the work of people of color in psychology.
