My Treatment Philosophy

We all experience anxiety. It can be motivating, useful, and even necessary for our survival at times. However, for many people anxiety becomes unmanageable, unhelpful, and painful. Situations that provoked little or no anxiety in the past seem to be terrifying. In order to cope with this individuals often develop strategies to avoid feeling such intense anxiety. However, these avoidance strategies come at a cost, as they tend to isolate one from others, take up more and more time, and detract from important life goals.   My goal is to help you find ways to face your fears so that you can lead a rewarding life without paralyzing fears and worries. The type of treatment I offer is centered on safely finding ways to confront anxiety-provoking situations and thoughts in order to lessen the intensity of your anxiety as well as to find ways to end reliance on avoidance strategies that only make the situation worse in the long run. By using cognitive behavioral techniques with an emphasis on exposure we can find ways to confront and reduce your anxiety allowing you to live your life with less limitation and unnecessary worry.
